A Way Out

What if the only way out of a bad situation was to betray the only person you ever loved?

Three's a Crowd

A while after Katrina and the whole weird nomadic aftermath, I decided to write a script loosely based on Times-Picayune columnist, Chris Rose. He seemed to be particularly affected by the events of 2005. It turns out it wasn't about him at all.

el Ordinál

I spent a summer many moons ago in Cuernava, Mexico after which I decided to take some of my experiences there and write a thriller.  This is what came out.  Not exactly thrilling, but maybe interesting.

Missed

This is a script.  It's not in script form per se, but it's an impressionist take on filmmaking.  No dialogue, just voice over, many images of the city at night.  Lens flares in the day.  Oh, lord.  Its called, "Missed".

Death Comes Only in the Rain

I have been visiting Japan every few years for the last decade or so and every so often I would try to think of film ideas to shoot there. A few years ago I watched an American television news story about an American who did a bunch of reporting on the Yakuza while he lived in Japan. One thing he said stood out. That the Yakuza liked to assassinate people on rainy days since all the blood (evidence) would wash away. With that in mind, I wrote this treatment.

Reagan's Prisoners

This is first feature film script I ever completed, but in spite of that, I think it is kind of interesting. Maybe even entertaining. It's a crime story set in a shitty Midwestern town. Write what you know, you know what mean?

The Blue Night

How about another western tale?  I forgot about this one, but my wife helped come up with the story written in treatment form.  A deaf woman with Native-American heritage is tricked out of her beloved property by her evil brother and his unwilling accomplice.  Perhaps a metaphor for something or another.  I had a book of Native American poetry that was quite beautiful and was anxious to incorporate into as many scripts as I could (which ended up being two).  Sometimes I think all short films should automatically thank O'henry in the credits.

Seven Curses

A while back my producing buddy said there might be a chance to shoot film out at his teacher's cabin in Montana somewhere should we come up with an idea that the teacher liked best from all the students. Of course the film would have to be able to be shot in and around the cabin. I took it on as a challenge. I grew up for a time in Pocatello, Idaho, and at the time I felt a real connection to that part of the country. Its air, its feeling, smell, attitude. Anyway, like most things in life the film never got made (or really ever had a chance if I'm honest). It seems a good story to me, though. The movie is based on a Bob Dylan song that's based on an old folk song. Steal from the best I suppose. And it's got sex. A bit of a pattern so far, I'm afraid.

A Likeable Pervert

Can a statutory rapist be a character you root for?  Can he be likable under any circumstance?  You be the judge.

A script called "Tim"

"Tim" is a shitty title, but I hate writing titles.  This is a feature I wrote a while back that I recently revised slightly and thought it wasn't as bad as I remembered.  You be the judge.  It's a story told a million times.  A love story about two guys, a girl, and a set golf clubs.  Kind of a hate letter to the shithole town I grew up in.  All of it is true except the parts I made up.

introduction

I'm gonna post some stories or scripts that maybe somebody might enjoy or feel like commenting on or discussing. This stuff is copyrighted by me, so don't steal my shit.  Not that anyone would want to.  This is stuff I'll probably never shoot, but I wanted to share 'cause I think it's cool in some kinda way. Maybe someone someday would want to shoot some of this.  That's cool. Just give me proper credit, asshole.  And pay me.

love.

Aaron.
